Oil Mining in Detail.
Upon drilling oil comes out of the ground as crude oil that has to be refined through scientific processes to come up with the different components of oil that we have today. The oil formation process is pretty simple as dead organisms drop dead and sink deep into the earth they decay over millions of years and we end up having crude oil. When the plates deep into the earth starts experiencing some movements and shifting the gas and oil do that as well, it gets trapped in what is referred as reservoir rocks.
Oil drilling companies have contributed to making the world what it is today, without them the energy industry wouldn’t be as we know it. They are responsible for the exploration and also the extracting of this precious resource from the earth. Geologists are the professionals that are entrusted with the finding of oil, this is the exploration part. They are tasked with finding areas that have good conditions that ,would trap oil. Gravilty could pin point the direction in which the oil is flowing for this reason the geologist needs to observe and measure the changes that occur in the earth’s gravity. 3D and 4D seismic imaging can also be used in the locating of oil that is trapped in the earth’s reservoir rocks. This imaging is capable of sending shocks into the hidden rocks deep into the earth.
Reflections of the waves are sent back to the surface of the earth and then they are analyzed. The moment oil exploration reveals that there are good deposits of oil that can be extracted then the area is marked, if under water buoys are used and if on land they mark the coordinates. Identifying an area to extract oil is one thing and mining is another. The geologist continues with their work by marking perimeter boundaries of the area, and also coming up with report s of the environmental impact. The oil company will not proceed to ,mine without the necessary mining rights and certifications from the authorities in charge. When all the rights and titles have been obtained the company can comfortably begin and it starts with clearing of trees and any obstructions to the area. To move machinery easily the company starts by coming up with some access roads to the area to move machines with ease.
Water is important and needed in the drilling process and that is why the company will first drill boreholes if there is no water nearby. The excavation process will have a lot of mud and rocks being extracted which needs to be dumped, the company has to dig pits for this disposal. Drilling can begin as soon as a pit is made around the main drilling hole to enable access to the area.
